If you're looking for a day that gets your heart rate up and rewards you with rainforest vibes, misty views, and maybe a fudge sample or two (because balance), Tamborine Mountain is calling. Perched in the Gold Coast hinterland like the chilled-out cousin of the Scenic Rim, Tamborine is where nature meets adventure with a eucalyptus-scented high-five.
It’s got the goods: swinging bridges, winding trails, waterfall swims, and more birdsong than a rainforest Spotify playlist. So lace up your trail shoes, bring your sense of direction (and maybe a snack stash), and get ready for a day of lush, leafy exertion.

Highlights
Treetop strolling at Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk
Hike to Curtis Falls or take the longer Witches Falls Circuit
Lunch with a view (and a breather) at Gallery Walk
Explore Cedar Creek Falls for a refreshing dip
Sunset from Rotary Lookout or Hang Glider Hill
Morning: Skywalks & Shady Canopies
Kick things off at the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk, where you’ll wander along 1.5 km of elevated walkways, steel bridges, and forest floor trails, all suspended above a canopy of ferns, palms, and those trees that look like something from FernGully. It’s beginner-friendly but still gets the blood pumping, especially when you spot a lace monitor and have to pretend you're not scared.
The highlight? The cantilever bridge 30 metres above the valley. It's part jungle gym, part "look at me conquering my fear of heights" moment.
🎟️ Open daily, small entry fee, large wow factor.
Midday: Waterfall Wanders & Proper Hikes
By now, you’ve earned a more serious trail. Choose your path:
Curtis Falls Walk – A short but magical trek through dense forest that leads to a picture-perfect plunge waterfall (no swimming, but plenty of oohs and aahs). It’s shady, serene, and koala-adjacent if you're lucky.
Witches Falls Circuit – A longer 3.5 km loop with switchbacks, rock stairs, and rainforest that whispers, “Yes, you’re doing great.” It’s Queensland’s oldest national park and still one of its most underrated gems.
Whichever route you take, the bushwalk energy is strong and your step count is thriving.
Lunch: Fuel Up & Chill Out
Time to reward your hustle. Head to Gallery Walk, Tamborine’s charming stretch of cafes, cheese shops, and every type of fudge known to man.
Grab a table at Elevation Café for hearty wraps, burgers, and actual chairs your legs will thank you for.
And yes, you’re absolutely allowed to follow that with a fudge sample (or five) from Fudge Heaven. Think of it as trail mix… but sweeter and with less commitment.
Afternoon: Splash Time at Cedar Creek
Once you’ve refuelled and regained use of your limbs, head to Cedar Creek Falls. This series of rocky pools and gentle cascades is the spot to cool off. Depending on rainfall, you can dip, wade, or just sit on a sun-warmed rock pretending you’re in a herbal shampoo commercial.
👣 Short walk from the carpark to the pools, though it’s a bit rocky so bring those trusty shoes.
It’s family-friendly, camera-friendly, and a great place to stretch out and let the post-lunch food coma wear off in style.
Evening: Golden Light & Glorious Views
Wrap up your adventure with a golden hour view from either:
Rotary Lookout – Panoramic views over the Scenic Rim, best enjoyed with a travel mug of tea and a deep, satisfied sigh.
Hang Glider Hill – No need to jump off, but watching others launch into the sky like adrenaline-seeking magpies is oddly inspiring. Plus, the sunset here? Chef’s kiss.
Tamborine Mountain serves up the best kind of active day, where your legs are sore but your soul is full. You’ve climbed, dipped, stretched, strolled, and maybe even indulged in some fudge-based carb loading. That’s what balance looks like.
