Hands down, this is my favourite itinerary. Its just a perfect mix of outdoor exercise, long lunches and afternoon swims in waterfalls. I currently live in Brisbane and when we have any visitors staying (and we've already done Southbank) I take them on this daytrip and it is always a winner.

Highlights
Mt Ngungun Summit Track
Lunch in Montville
Kondalilla Falls and Picnic Creek Circuit
Pub Dinner and Drinks
Morning
Honestly, have breakfast at home, easier and cheaper, save your money for afternoon drinks.
If your travelling from Brisbane the first stop is only an hour drive from the CBD and if your travelling from the Sunshine coast its only around 30 minutes.
First stop, toilet stop. Presumably you are like me and all the people I have done this walk with and need a bathroom break before we start, Glass House Mountains Visitor and Interpretive Centre is your best bet (be aware there are no bathrooms at Mt Ngungun bush walk.)
Mount Ngungun Summit track is the proper first stop. It's a 2.4km return walk that takes a leisurely climb to the summit. There are a few quite steep bits, but to put it into perspective I saw a three year old boy managing it without a tantrum. When you make it to the top you will be met with the unique and utterly breath-taking landscapes of the Glass House Mountains. If you are walking with kids, make sure they don't venture too far to the edge as some spots seem to taper away quite perilously, but there are lots of smooth rock to have a sit and gaze at the views.
Lunch
After starting strong with the views at Mt Ngungun, you would be forgiven for thinking that we have
peaked too soon, played our Ace, but not, the next stop has views and coffee. After you make it back to the Mt Ngungun car park head to Montville, a 30 minute drive north-ish and stop at The Edge Restaurant. It sounds fancy, but its super friendly and the food is delicious. Depending on the time you get there you can have a coffee and cake or a long lunch, but even better than their food is the views that sweep down the lush valley below. There are loads of gorgeous cafes in Montville but this one has by far the best views.
I'd also highly recommend walking up and down the main street of Montville ad there are so many delightful little shops, perfect for whiling away half an hour.
Afternoon
Next stop Kondalilla Falls Circuit, this walk is far les steep than Mt.Ngungun, although quite a bit longer at 4.5kms, however its a loop and the loop ends with a swim underneath a waterfall so well and truly worth it. The walk snakes it's way through the lush rainforest, making it a shady walk for even the hottest summer day. The swimming area has lot of nice flat rocks to sit on and cool your feet if full on plunge is not your thing.
Evening
Exhausted and sweaty? more than likely. Enjoy a well deserved cold drink at the Montville Café Bar and Grill, the cutest English style pub with a gorgeous outdoor beer garden. Delicious pub meals with great atmosphere and service. The perfect end to the perfect day, plus you definitely got your 10,000 steps in!
